Vlog Your Way to More Engagement

In previous blogs we’ve discussed how video is taking the online world by storm. Scrolling through your Facebook feed you may notice over 50% of the content you see is in video form. Whether it’s a cute viral video of a cat eating pasta or an ad for a business, videos are an effective and fun way to get your message across to your audience. That said, it’s no surprise that video blogging, also known as vlogging, is having a serious increase in popularity.

If you’re unfamiliar with vlogging, it’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like. In the beginning there were bloggers, people who documented their thoughts on a given topic in a series of casual, online articles. Kind of like an online journal open to the public. Now, there are bloggers and vloggers. Vloggers do the same thing bloggers do but instead of writing, they tell their stories by making videos. YouTube has been a great platform for vloggers; with the right amount of followers and engagement people can make a serious living off of vlogging.

How does this apply to your dental practice, you ask? We certainly don’t expect you to change careers and attempt to be a pro vlogger overnight. However, what you can takeaway from vlogging is that people like to consume information in the form of a quick, casual video. You don’t have to have fancy equipment to make a vlog, you can shoot it right from your smartphone, upload it to your YouTube channel, and share it on Facebook.

Short on ideas? We’ve got you covered:

    • Office Tour: Show your patients around the office with a quick video tour.
    • Day in the Life: Do a day in the life of a dentist/orthodontist or one of your staff members and take your followers through what your days are like.
    • Before and After: Ask a patient to take three videos throughout the duration of a dental procedure and share them with you. For example, if they’re doing Invisalign you can ask them to film a video series with their thoughts at the beginning of the treatment, during the mid point and at the end of the process.
    • Patient Appreciation: If you host any patient appreciation events, get some of it on video to share with your followers!
    • Vacation Fun: Are you or one of your staff members going on an interesting vacation? Document some of the best parts of the trip! You can edit all the snippets together for a fun travel video to share on your social media platforms.

These are just some ways in which you can start taking advantage of vlogging for your practice. If you have any questions on these or anything else vlogging related, feel free to give our social team a call!
